neXt Company Theatre to present at the Global Health Research Forum

Brock University and McMaster University in alliance with the Canadian Coalition for Global Health Research (CCGHR) are hosting an undergraduate forum for Global Health, a knowledge-sharing
stimulating event comprising engaging speakers, interactive workshops, poster sessions, expert panel discussion and a special presentation exploring global health through the arts.

Migrant Workers Realities I: Theatre and Health

neXt Company Theatre will lead panel discussion and presentation focussed on the intersection of applied theatre and health realities. Panelists will outline how a variety of theatre and health projects related to temporary agricultural migrant workers in Southwestern Ontario can be understood to stage a generative intersection between:

  • communicating complexities of issues to wider publics;
  • engendering active participation of populations of interest by creating contexts in which narrativization and re-narrativization of their experience can occur, and;
  • populations of interest proposing flexible solutions to complex problems directly to the media and sometimes even to decision makers.

Participating in the conversation and presentation will include thinkers and artists from a variety of different institutions and backgrounds.

When: January 26, 8:30 - 5 pm

Where: @Pond Inlet, Brock University

Brock Congress 2014

  • "Our sincere appreciation goes out to all involved for the phenomenal evening in tribute to the bicentennial of the Battle of Lundy's Lane. Those involved had no choice but to be imaginative in order to try to recreate that evening, given the geographical limitations and logistical challenges. What resulted was the best possible solution and it went off extremely well."
