World class entertainment beats at the heart of Niagara's wine country

Posted Sep 1st, 2013

ST. CATHARINES, ON (28 August 2013) – Theatre and cultural enthusiasts alike are venturing to Niagara’s wine district for Cabaret Sauvignon, a regionally themed circus cabaret fusing energetic singing and dancing with traditional circus acts. The show opens October 2nd at Rockway Vineyards, complete with a delicious three course meal, premium estate wine and the kinds of physical prowess expected from the big names in circus entertainment.

Cab Sav is not only an exciting cultural collaboration between two emerging players in the region, neXt Company Theatre and Zacada Circus, but is also responsible for creating new partnerships between existing players in the Wine and Tourism industry and cultural sector in Niagara, namely Rockway Vineyards and Twenty Valley Tourism.

“A key objective of the collaboration is to bring a new audience from Niagara and beyond. All parties hope this will be the first step in a series of circus cabaret shows that will feature Niagara food, wine, creative expression and entertainment,” boasts Rod Morris, Executive Producer with neXt.

Shelley Traver, Sales and Special Event Manager at Rockway, adds, Cabaret Sauvignon will not only bring people to Niagara, but will allow people to experience a ‘big city’ performance in an onsite vineyard setting, something that isn’t necessarily expected. But nothing goes together better than wine, food and theatre!”

Directed by Daniel Abadie, in collaboration with Kosta Zakharenko, Cabaret Sauvignon is not the first joint project between neXt and Zacada. The theatre company and circus players have previously collaborated on flash mobs as part of neXt’s Niagara’s Cultural Capitals of Canada campaign that featured spontaneous moments of culture all over Niagara. With the addition of Rockway Vineyards to an already successful partnership, Niagara’s cultural scene will surely continue to grow by allowing people to experience a truly unique event without having to venture out of Niagara.

So, what can patrons expect from Cab Sav? “A fantastic, gourmet dinner at a super reasonable price; and a truly entertaining show in a unique set up at a winery, situated on a golf course,” asserts Traver.
